Work on structuring a story, finding the gripping details to make your story kick, and crafting a meaningful ending. We want to help you generate a story and tell it at THE SPILL: OBSESSION

The Spill: Obsession is happening February 22nd at the @flyingmnampa at 6:30

The Spill is an open mic, true story telling night. Stories are 5-6 minutes without the use of notes, told candidly (like you would tell a friend!) Use this workshop to craft and sharpen a story to tell!

We’ll discuss different takes on structuring a basic narrative, how to find the right moments or details to pull your story together, how to look at different angles of the prompt, and discuss fun and easy performance tips. Come with an idea to workshop or get inspired during class! We’d love to help you generate and hone a story for the upcoming Spill featuring true stories told live on theme: “OBSESSION” !

Here’s a few prompts and phrases to get your mind turning on “OBSESSION”
We are literally obsessed. Give us stories of FIXATIONS: the things that preoccupy your mind and invade your thoughts; that haunt your every waking moment, possessing you body, mind, soul… and credit card. The odd interests which absorbed your childhood summers and lingered into your adulthood collectables. The celebrity phone backgrounds and cherished posters on your wall. The temporary crazes and the long lasting fads. Stories of hang ups, hauntings, collections, possessions, and fanaticism.
