Theme: The First Time

The LGBTQIA+ existence isn’t any one thing, and neither are our stories.

We encourage stories of coming out, stories of sexual firsts, stories of self discovery, yet there are also many more firsts tied up in the queer experience, and we want to encourage the exploration of these ideas too; the firsts that bind us to who we are, who we were, and who we want to be.
The first time you...

found friends who supported you, fell over in high heels, introduced your partner to your parents, connected with who you see in the mirror, went on a virtual date, watched haikyuu,  wrote fan fiction, really hoped it was shipped in discreet packaging, experienced kink positivity, laughed with yourself, rewatched your favorite movie after coming out, became a parent, found your karaoke song, realized other people do that too, danced your buns off to troye sivan, sat in a chair wrong, said goodbye, were discriminated against or fetishized, decided to keep on trying, watched six seasons of a show for one kiss that never happened. And literally everything else.

Some of the most important work to be done in creating representation for LBGTQIA+ experiences is showing up for each other and sharing our stories. Allies are welcome, but please show your support by showing up, listening and donating.

To allies: by entering this space, you agree to

get comfortable with being uncomfortable, check your privilege, and follow the lead of your LGBTQIA+ peers. You are welcome, but please show your support by showing up, listening, learning, advocating, and donating.

Understand that the people speaking at this know there are allies allowed in the space, and that you are being trusted with the personal narratives being shared. We understand that people have friends that don’t identify in the LGBTQIA+ community, so we ask that you continue to be supportive and prioritize their needs and comfortability.

It means celebrating and embracing it with us, and not using our embodiment of otherness as a prop for your good time. The most important thing a cis/straight ally can do is make sure they aren't taking up space for LGBTQIA+ people.

Rules Round up! For conducting yourself as a storyteller:

Rule # 1: The use of hate speech of any kind will result in immediate banishment. I.e. Racial slurs, body shaming, ableist, classist, homophobic or transphobic remarks or anything else that we define as hateful or racist.

Rule # 2: Each storyteller has 5 minutes to relate their tale. When your time is up we will give you a warning sound effect, which means that you have 1 minute to rap up your story. Please pay close attention to your time; sometimes it is helpful to practice beforehand to make sure that you can tell your whole story in 5 minutes or less.

Rule # 3: Have fun and be respectful to those that are willing to share with us!
