On First Place Winner: Nnadi Samuel’s “Chaos Theory”
-
From Judge Isaura Ren

“Nnadi Samuel's "Chaos Theory" is at once a disclosure of pain and a gesture toward change. Searing yet gentle, reeling yet hopeful, this poem is a torch with which to survive the cold. Samuel's revelations leap from the page, casting sparks into every dark corner, drawing out our own shadows. In this new light, we see that our queerness, our transness, and our shared humanity burn brighter than ever.
